We took a vacation to relax and unwind.
Went down to Kentucky, to relive the old times.
Went back to our childhood to gain peace of mind.
But ruins of the old place,
was all we could find.
The old house is still standing.
But the old folks are gone.
No laughter within now,
'cause the children are grown.
They moved to the city
when mom passed away,
but, memories still linger of a happier day.
On Saturday night they'd all gather in
to play mountain music with family and friends
to tell a few stories how it used to be
when they were just children
so happy and free.
The old house is still standing,
but the old folks are gone.
No laughter within now,
'cause the children are grown.
They moved to the city,
when mom passed away.
But, memories still linger
of a happier day.
The ghosts of the past are watching us o'er
but, we'll meet again some day, I know.
Where life will go on and good times won't end
and we'll be together, so happy again.
A new house is standing
where we'll never grow old,
we'll laugh through the ages
while eternity roams
we'll move to that city
where we'll always stay,
they'll be no more longing
for that yesterday.
A happier day......
A happier day......
there'll be no more longing for a happier day.
