Artificial
02:43
|
|||
So, we've gone this far,
the damage has been done.
We have reaped what's sown,
our time now on our own.
See the red leaves fall?
You're now one for all,
things now seem so dull
without your "Love", artificial.
So, I guess you're stuck.
Your heart and empty rut,
no words can compromise
for these tears in my eyes.

A Passing Fire
04:00
|
|||
No one knows their heart's desire, 'till it's gone,
a passing fire.
Now you say you still want me,
time has told you what you see.
How we wish for love, untame,
a burning desire one cannot name.
But, it seems to soon turn sane,
once undying, now mundane.
Now, just leave me to sit here crying,
inside it lingers, there's no denying
but, it soon, I hope, will pass,
for, I know time won't heal my past.
Now I know my heart was free,
and false love it did not need.
So very fragile, it certainly seems,
now, so small: can't be redeemed.

Song For A Soldier
03:28
|
|||
There's a light in the window for you,
there's a light in the window for you.
Through the mist of the night, you can still
see the light. There's a light in the window for you.
There's a prayer on my lips for you,
there's a prayer on my lips for you.
And though, you're far away,
you know that I will always pray,
there's a prayer on my lips for you.
There's a hope in my heart for you,
there's a hope in my heart for you.
And though, I'm all alone,
that you'll soon be comin' home,
there's a hope in my heart for you.
There's a yearning in my soul for you,
there's a yearning in my soul for you.
And, though, you're in the fray,
God will keep you all the way.

Moonlight
02:27
|
|||
I've been gone for many a day,
and now I'm finally on my way,
once I'm there, I'll never a-stray
from my old Kentucky home.
Moonlight, moonlight,
come lay your kiss upon the night.
Make its pathway oh so bright
to my old Kentucky home.
Now that my old home is in view,
I'm suddenly no longer blue.
I swear that I'll be true to you in
my old Kentucky home.
I see the lamplight shining bright,
it draws me to my home tonight.
To love and life & future bright
in my old Kentucky home.
At the moon old Shep is baying,
I can hear my sweet love praying,
and if I return, then I'll be staying,
in my old Kentucky Home.

Vacant Heart
03:26
|
|||
Are you leaving to see her again?
Or do you love me, still?
Are you turning to walk away;
As tears fall while I stand?;
Well, I just wondered if you'd ever change.
See, I care for you still.
But, here, I guess, is the riddle's end.
Your words hurt enough to kill.
Your love and lies walk a thin line.
My vacant heart breaks here;
the winter wind hits with a chill,
my thoughts, I'll try to steer.
Well, are you leaving to see her again?
Or do you love me still?
Are you turning to walk away,
as tears fall while I stand,
as tears fall while I stand?

A Happier Day
05:06
|
|||
We took a vacation to relax and unwind.
Went down to Kentucky, to relive the old times.
Went back to our childhood to gain peace of mind.
But ruins of the old place,
was all we could find.
The old house is still standing.
But the old folks are gone.
No laughter within now,
'cause the children are grown.
They moved to the city
when mom passed away,
but, memories still linger of a happier day.
On Saturday night they'd all gather in
to play mountain music with family and friends
to tell a few stories how it used to be
when they were just children
so happy and free.
The old house is still standing,
but the old folks are gone.
No laughter within now,
'cause the children are grown.
They moved to the city,
when mom passed away.
But, memories still linger
of a happier day.
The ghosts of the past are watching us o'er
but, we'll meet again some day, I know.
Where life will go on and good times won't end
and we'll be together, so happy again.
A new house is standing
where we'll never grow old,
we'll laugh through the ages
while eternity roams
we'll move to that city
where we'll always stay,
they'll be no more longing
for that yesterday.
A happier day......
A happier day......
there'll be no more longing for a happier day.

A Wiser Man Than I
04:09
|
|||
A wiser man than I could have looked into your eyes
and seen that you had better things to do.
But, love obscured the view, to me you were not true,
and, now there is no wiser man than I.
When we were young and free,
you made a vow to me that love would
grow as years went passing by.
And, now it's clear to me,
and I can finally see,
that this dream can never, ever be.
A wiser man than I could have looked into your eyes
and seen that you had better things to do.
But, love obscured the view, to me you were not true,
and, now there is no wiser man than I.
I was feeling oh so alone,
I called you on the phone,
hoping we could be together again.
To let love bloom anew, and let old wounds
heal too, to talk it through and get rid of the pain.
A wiser man than I could have looked into your eyes
and seen that you had better things to do.
But, love obscured the view, to me you were not true,
and, now there is no wiser man than I.
Your mother answered the phone,
she told me you were gone,
out on the town with my best friend, Jim.
And now that I know you, you'll never ever be true,
the lies you told to me, you'll tell to him.
A wiser man than I could have looked into your eyes
and seen that you had better things to do.
But, love obscured the view, to me you were not true,
and, now there is no wiser man than I.

Floating In Space
02:18
|
|||
I could take off sailing across the world,
seeking all of Earths beauty,
but, I'd die before I ever saw it all,
lucky for me, it's a 30 minute drive home,
to the world's largest portion of beauty waiting
to greet me at my front door.
And, if the oceans permenently evaporated today
if the Swiss Alps and Rocky Mountains melted away
if the 7 wonders of the world suddenly vanished
all the sorrow of the people in the world would mean
nothing at all compared to the way I'd feel if you walked out
the door. And I know that it's not likely, and I know our love is true.
And if the world exploded, and we were the only 2 people who survived
I'd be perfectly content floating in space with you for the rest of my life.

Fly Down Little Sparrow
06:33
|
|||
Fly down little sparrow,
fly down unto me.
Together we'll mount up on wings
and be free.
The higher you fly,
the more you will see.
That love can't be hindered,
that it must be free.
They issued their warrant,
saying you were the one.
That you killed the stranger,
that you shot the gun.
But the night that was questioned,
you lay by my side.
You were nowhere near him
the night that he died.
You fled through the mountains
where the wild beast roams
you kept up your vigil
away from your home
and now I am weary
from waiting so long.
Fly down, little Sparrow,
to me and your home.
The heart of the Sparrow is small,
but it's great. And it will live on,
despite all the hate.
And though it may flutter,
it never shall die.
For, the love that it harbors
will cause it to fly.
The truth's been found out
that you're not the one.
That you were not there,
that you had no gun.
And together we flew
to heights far above
all the hate of this world
that can't touch true love.

Empty Promises
04:13
|
|||
The civil war had just been o'er,
the south was beaten badly,
and Blanche, she stood upon their land
surveyed the damage sadly,
She had no home, her house was gone,
her father's mind had left him,
and now, she promised God above
she'd do all to avenge him.
The Union officer stood tall,
his dark eyes were a gleaming
and little did he know just then the
treachery she was screaming
she'd make him hurt like she was hurt,
cause Union Jack would come calling,
the things she vowed to do to him
were terribly appalling.
Empty Promises, so long ago were spoken
Empty Promises, and now her heart is broken
He came each day to make his rounds,
to see how she was doing
she smiled and looked into his eyes,
the witchcraft she was brewing,
it wasn't long that love grew strong,
hate was not pursuing,
her dreams of John that lingered on,
would prove their sad undoing.
He rode one evening to the farm
to tell her that he was sorry,
that he must go back to New York,
but, for her not to worry,
But in the shadow of the dusk
her father saw that Yankee, and,
as John stepped up to the door,
the shot rang out distinctly.
Empty Promises, so long ago were spoken
Empty Promises, and now her heart is broken
Blanche hurriedly ran to his side,
bent down to kiss an hold him,
and then she told him of her love,
that she would never forget him,
and with his last reserve of strength,
he whispered that he reckoned
that he would always love her too,
but, God above now beckoned.
His father came on a Southbound train,
the body to recover.
There'd never been a darker day for him and
John's sad mother,
but, when he got to Blanche's land,
he was amazed to find there,
2 graves, one tombstone clearly said
"It's John and Blanche Forever".

Mr. Bonney
04:31
|
|||
When Billy was a young boy, he fell into the wrong crowd.
He lived for fame and fortune, he wanted to be proud.
Billy didn't understand the wrong from right.
Billy killed his first man in a bar room fight.
Always on the run for the many crimes he'd done,
Billy lived his life behind a loaded gun,
he practiced all day long, he had the fastest hand,
Billy sent 21 men to the Promised Land.
Terror of the Southwest,
that's what the paper said.
You better keep on riding
before you end up dead.
He made a deal with the Governor to testify one day,
if he'd turn in the others, they'd let him ride away
Always on the run for the many crimes he'd done,
Billy lived his life behind a loaded gun,
he practiced all day long, he had the fastest hand,
Billy sent 21 men to the Promised Land.
Billy rode the country wide
with his so-called friends,
little did he know they made a deal
to bring his end.
Garrett caught him in an ambush,
the history books do say,
did he live to be an old man?
Some say, he got away.
Always on the run for the many crimes he'd done,
Billy lived his life behind a loaded gun,
he practiced all day long, he had the fastest hand,
Billy sent 21 men to the Promised Land.
